Hey guys, sorry this is late, but I'm here to discuss the Oscars.
This is the first year I have ever watched the Oscars all the way through and actually knew most of the films, though I actually didn't watch any of them. I had heard critiques, good and bad, about all of them, though, so I had an idea of what was what.
I went into the Oscars biased because I wanted two movies to be nominated: Saving Mr. Banks, and the Book Thief, both of which were not nominated. I was furious, because both of them deserved to be. Especially the Book Thief. Such an incredible movie.
But I digress. I loved Ellen hosting the Oscars, because, let's face it, everyone loves Ellen. The Oscars are always so serious, and I love how Ellen, along with J-Law and Benedict Cumberbatch, were livening it up. It is a serious event, but it doesn't have to be so uptight.
Most of the speeches were like they always are: simple, sweet, and thankful. But a few stuck out. The one that stood out the most was Jared Leto's speech. I'm sure everyone's seen or at least heard of his speech. I'm just impressed he could fit so many topics into one 1-2 minute speech. That takes talent. But he was well spoken, and it was the best speech of the night, in my opinion.
I personally agree with the choice of Matthew McConaughey as best actor. I have seen parts of Dallas Buyer's Club, and he definitely deserved it. I also agree with the best director choice, Alfonso Cuaron, for Gravity. That movie is completely stunning, and I am thrilled that it won so many awards.
This has been my Oscar review. ^_^
